CNC Heads Sports/Saloon Car Championship – Cadwell Park preview

Rounds two and three of this year’s CNC Heads Sports Saloons Championship take place at Cadwell Park on Sunday.

Heading the entry is first round winner Jon Woolfitt in his MK Indy, but this weekend he is only opposed by Stephen Keenan’s MK in class A. Jon’s brother Paul could give him a close race if his Lotus Exige proves reliable, he heads class B with Paul Dobson’s Locost 7 ready to challenge him.

Also in class B are Tim Foxlow’s Escort RSR and Andrew Southcott’s MG Modsport. Both were non-starters at Oulton in round one, but Southcott had put his car on pole before the engine blew, so he could well be absent again. Completing the class line-up is returnee Brian Dean with his Westfield. Class C could well provide the overall winner too, as Danny Bird’s Spire GTR and Dave Harvey’s Stuart Taylor Locosaki are well suited to the Lincolnshire circuit.

Completing class C are father and son Dave and Alastair Chilton with their MK Gti’s and Caterham expert Graeme with his Classic 7. While Garry Wardle is down to run solo in his Mini Cooper S in class D, class E is once again the best supported. Jamie Cryer’s Ginetta G20 leads the way, but Nick Bartlett’s BMW M3 will be there or there abouts. There are two further G20’s joining Cryer, with Tony Harman being joined by debutant Neal O’Leary.

Steven Parker’s BMW Compact will be near the front of the class too and apart from Brian Allen’s Ford Puma, the rest of the class are Honda derivatives. Robert Burkinshaw and Chris Maries have Integra’, while it’s Civic Type R’s for Ian Bruce and Les Kirk.

It’s Honda’s again in class F. David Bird and David Green both have Civics, while Guy Carter runs his CRX.

Practice is at 10.15-10.30 on Sunday morning, with qualifying 11.55 to 12.15. The first race is for 20 mins plus a lap at 14.55 and the second at 17.10.
